The truth about human pheromones.

Human pheromones are a popular device in fiction, including the novel, Jitterbug Perfume, by Tom Robbins and the film, Love Potion Number Nine. But are the human pheromones depicted in these works of fiction true or are they just stories? Let's find out.

Some commercially-available substances are advertised using claims that the products contain sex pheromones and can act as an aphrodisiac. Although there isn't solid, published scientific evidence of human pheromones being effective, there is proof that Male Pheromones ease tension in women making them more easily accessible and friendly. In short, most of the products you see online or in stores probably won't make someone immediately become attracted to you, but it will help in getting your foot in the door.

Nevertheless, a few well-controlled scientific studies have been published demonstrating that humans may use pheromones in some circumstances. The best-studied case involves the synchronization of menstrual cycles among women based on odor cues. Other studies have suggested that people can use odor cues to select mates who are not closely related to themselves.

Human pheromones are still being researched, but many studies seem to be pointing towards the conclusion that human pheromones do act as a catalyst for attraction of the opposite sex. In a few years, we may even see real love potions that will allow us to attract any mate. Even if it isn't that extreme, I'm sure human pheromones will evolve to the point where people will be able to get a little help meeting and mingling.
